|- - - so i moded a ps2(?)/xbox 360 arcade joystick - - -|
I had a Playstation 1 transparent arcade joystick I got for the equivalent of $2 dollars,
and I felt like it was lacking.
When I saw that someone was selling one compatible with Xbox 360 and with interchangeable parts I immediately wanted it.
From the begining it felt less responsive than the one I already had,
the joystick needed a lot of movement to register and the buttons felt soft
(I'd prefer them to be clicky).
Also the green and the red buttons weren't working, so I replaced them with the RT and RB ones.
After some weeks of procrastinating it, I finally went to Steren to buy the joystick switches
and started working on it.
Getting the joystick to come apart was a little harder than expected,
but when it did I just had to record the order based on the cable colors,
replace the switches, and mount it all back together.
After testing it again, it felt better but still not as good as the transparent one.
I think maybe replacing the restrictor might help, but that will have to wait.
So maybe a lot of effort was for nothing, but I believe that's part of doing any sort of project.
Sometimes it works out, and sometimes you learn you shouldn't have bothered.
But hey, at least I have something to write/talk about.
By the way, this is the first entry to be written on the Asus EEE mini laptop.
